What is a Registered Dietitian?

A registered dietitian is an accredited healthcare professional who has met the appropriate educational, licensing and work requirements to provide nutrition support for both medical and non-medical nutrition needs.

A registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) is not the same as a "nutritionist." There are no educational or licensing criteria for anyone to call themselves a nutritionist.
